Exactly six months to the day since we started potty training on her 3rd birthday. Six months!!! For six months she simply refused to poop on the potty, screamed and cried at the suggestion; would hold it in until she got her nap diaper in miserable pain at daycare; pooped in pants, underwear, naked, bathing suits at home; pooped every night as soon as she got her night diaper on and then had to be changed even if it meant waking her up (we lost two babysitters over this). Our pediatrician gave us a referral to a pediatric gastroenteritis (we’re still keeping the appointment) because my daughter was so insistent on never pooping in the potty and how much she suffered withholding at daycare.
She still wets her pants frequently but tonight’s poop-in-the-potty was a milestone!! PSA: please don’t believe that waiting until a child is three makes potty training easier. These last six months have sucked for all concerned. |
| That’s terrific! Take her to the toy store to pick out a small prize after school today to help reinforce what a great job she did. Congratulations to you too! |
| Congratulations!!!! |
| Hooray!!! Hang in there, you’re making progress. I hope things go well with the doctor. |

That's great! Congratulations!
|
| Woohoo!! |
| Isn’t it amazing the things you can be excited about?? |
| Yay! My daughter was daytime trainer for pee at 2 and didn’t poop in the potty til something close to 3.5. Just went in her nap diaper everyday until I took it away. |
| Hurrah!! I hope this is the beginning of the end for you and shell potty train completely now. |
| Oh my gosh op I’m so happy for you. This sounds like it has been so so hard. I hope the progress continues! I’m sure it will be up and down but that little bit of success she got last night was a huge step |
| What a relief, OP! I've been there. |
| Congrats, OP! I'm just starting our potty training adventure and I'm already stressed about this. Hope things get easier for you guys now! |

Yay! FWIW, the kid we started training right at 2 did the same thing. He would only poop in a pull up. For nearly 2 years.
The kid we trained at 2.75 was trained in a day. So don’t beat yourself up. It’s really hit or miss. |

Oh phew! Glad it’s working!
My boys were a breeze to train at age 3, so it wasn’t the age necessarily. Parents blame the age when they want to believe they impacted the process, even negatively - you don’t know that starting training at two would have avoided the problems. |

My eldest DD was just a couple months old when my mom started to train her to pee after her meals. By 18 months my DD was tearlessly and easily trained (or maybe we were trained) and would poop and pee at certain times while sitting on a potty (and me holding her). By 2 yrs old, there was no diapers when she was awake and certainly no pooping in the diapers. She was very particular and could not stand a wet diaper.
Then my DS was born who could stay in a squishy poop filled diaper with no problems as long as he was playing. And it was really hard. After 2, I basically kept him pantless at home and had the little kids potties at several places through out the house so he could easily pee or poop whenever he wanted to. |
