Has anyone ‘graduated’ from dumbbell workouts to barbell workouts? I think I’m ready. But peloton and fiton don’t have barbell workouts. Can you recommend an online trainer or app? |
Is bodypump what you are looking for? You’d have to invest in the smartbar and sign up for the on demand subscription but it’s great. |
Squat and deadlift. The most basic human movements |
I moved from using mostly dumbbells with HIIT workouts to taking up powerlifting a few years ago: squat, deadlift, bench, and overhead press. Starting Strength or 5/3/1 for beginners are two beginning powerlifting programs to look up. I started with a linear progression program called Phrak's Greyskull that was recommended on the r/fitness subreddit. These aren't online trainers/apps though, more programs to follow in a more analog way.
For incorporating barbells into HIIT, Street Parking is a program to consider. They offer crossfit-style workouts that have dumbbell and barbell versions. I usually do a Street Parking workout after my main lift of the day, and use dumbbells for some movements and barbells for others. That could be a way to gradually incorporate barbells into workouts where you're used to using dumbbells. Street Parking has videos laying out the workouts but they are not designed to follow along to, like with Peleton. So if you're looking for a workout that you can do entirely while watching a video Street Parking is not for you. |
And bench press. |
May as well add row and overhead press for the big 5. |
You could try something like Stronglifts 5x5 |
Yep! They're great even with very little weight. Does wonders for the legs & butt! ![]() |
