Do you use turo?

If you do, what kind of cars did you rent? If you never heard of it, it is a p2p car rental site where you can rent fun (and non fun) cars from local owners. I rented a Porsche and a Tesla for a day. It was fun

I’m probably going to use it in Jan. Did you purchase insurance?

I'm on a skiing Facebook group where people often use Turo to get guaranteed access to 4WD and AWD vehicles.

I've read a number of reviews where people state that neither your credit card nor your own insurance policies will cover Turo because it's a p2p service and not a normal car rental agency. Therefore, you must buy Turo's insurance. Further, the renter pays the airport parking fees up to a certain threshold ($40 maybe?). You need to add in all those expenses to get a true comparison of costs against the legacy rental agencies.

Also, lots of bad reviews where an owner will cancel the reservation at the last minute because they need their car for personal use.

I didn’t. I think my insurance covered it. Or if it didn’t then the Turo insurance purchased by the vehicle owner covered it.

I tried. About an hour before I was to pick the car up, the guy cancelled. When I tried again, it was easier, cheaper and more convenient just to rent from a rental company. Won't go back.

I wouldn’t rent from them if I had to have a car for transportation from an airport or at least I would make a reservation with a regular rental company as a back up. But they do have unique cars that you would never be able to find at a regular company.
