Dress for the Little Inn of Washington?

Anonymous
On the phone they told me "cocktail" but I feel like every time I dress for an upscale DC area restaurant (Citronelle, Restaurant Eve etc) I am always overdressed. For those that have been, what do the women generally wear? I am in my mid-30s. TIA.

Oooooh. Lucky you! You are in for a wonderful treat. Do get dressed for this one. You don;t need to deck out as if you were going to a Saturday night wedding, but a pretty dress and heels would be entirely appropriate (for me that's dressed up; for others, a normnal day at the office). We went for dinner a couple years ago and I did not regret the cocktail dress (I live in jeans and t-shirt). Most people go to celebrate a special occasion and dress accordingly.Enjoy! I still remember that special night

I LOVE this place, and think it is worth every single penny. I do NOT find it overrated. I went at Christmas time, so I wore a nice skirt, pretty sweater and heels. My friend wore a nice dress. The men wore suits.

Al ot of people like it a lot of people don't. I am one that thought it was decent but not worth the money. There was an article in the Wall Street Journal that talked about how people rave about expensive places just becuase they go and if they didn't rave they would feel like they wasted their money or others woudl think they are not normal becuase "everybody" thinks it is so good. The article was based on the need to reinforce the need to tell everyone it was great becasue you are suppose dto enjoy spending money but it not always the case.

Not sure you can overdress. We went once and sat next to a bride in her wedding attire. Not a gown but a long dress. I have been many times. It is a wonderful experience. But the price is almost silly it is so high and the food is very good but really not the best ever.

You will enjoy it.
