I noticed we average at about 1k on groceries a month. We shop at WF. I think this is a bit much since we are DINKS.
What do you recommend we do to bring it down? |

What a stupid post. Eat less, shop sales, go to other grocery stores (you know they all have organic?), stop wasting so much food. Surely you can’t eat that much.
Or if you’re okay with it, I hope you’re enjoying prime rib and crab legs. |

We shop at Whole Foods, have two teens and spend less. Clearly you're letting yourself go in the prepared or luxury foods department, or you're wasting a lot of food... |
| If u can spend 1000 dollar a month on groceries then no its not too much for you clearly. Just be grateful this isn’t a problem! |
| Are you also eating a lot of takeout? |
OP here. Take-out is $350 a month on average |

I used to be part of a dink couple that spent a lot of Whole Foods and now am dating a guy with a kid. He manages what we buy. He’s very good at using all the food and buying strategically - sales, in season fruit etc - and he also doesn’t get drawn in by prepared foods or stuff like three dollar chocolate bars or fresh squeezed orange juice.
I bet you guys are wasting a lot of food. I know my ex and I used to. We just could not eat up the food before it went bad. You can freeze half the bread loaf, etc. |
Pay attention to the price of things you're buying? |
| Hire a personal chef. That person can make sure you aren't buying food that you're just throwing away. |
| Eat less meat. Buy fruit in season. Eat fewer processed snacks. Only buy certain things organic. Do a super cheap dinner 1-2 times a week (like pasta or beans and rice.) Avoid prepared food bars. |

This has to be a joke post. You spend $1K a month on groceries for two people? I would have been hard-pressed to TRY to spend that much. I shudder to think how much food you are wasting.
Make meal plans. This helps reduce waste. For example, if you need a little bit of mint for one recipe, use the rest of it in something else that week. If you roast a chicken, plan a meal using the leftovers like enchiladas or soup. Buy less meat. Buy in-season produce. Buy less processed food. Pay attention to how much food you throw out, and what. |

If you go to wf, use the prime app Make a list Buy groceries online so you can comparison shop and make lower cost swaps. |
| What do people spend on groceries? I easily spend close to 1000/month on myself, my spouse and our 3 year old. |
