We're trying to conceive a boy.
Any tips? We would love our baby regardless of sex, but can at least try for a boy. Plus, any tips in general on how to conceive? |
| You have to do it doggy style and also have sex within 12 hours of ovulating. |
| Boy sperm swim faster than girl sperm, so 14:54's comments about having sex closer to ovulation to conceive a boy have some truth. Good luck! |
| Go back to 7th grade sciance and pay attention this time. You can't do anything. |
sick! |

Well, most of this is going to be hokus pokus, but...here's what we did (and we now have a DS, but admittedly, we already had 50/50 odds of that):
1. Sex on the day of ovulation, or the day after. Not before. 2. DH drank coffee (speed up those guys) and took zinc supplements (supposedly this increases sperm count) 3. I took a folic acid/vit B combo (good practice when you're TTC generally). FWIW, this worked the first full month of me off the pill. And I have 2 sisters, and 4 nieces, and DH has 2 sisters and 3 nieces...we felt like the cards were stacked against us having a boy. |
| Most of us on the ttc forum are just trying to have a baby. period. |
If this post offends you or doesn't interest you, then don't open it. Period. |
| WebMD has a good tool. Find their ovulation calendar tool, and you can see when you should have sex generally, but you can also click on "try for a boy" and "try for a girl". It's based on the Shettles method. |
I knew someone would post smthg like this. I posted smthg similar months ago and got a nasty response like this. This is a TTC forum so OP's question is totally valid. Like a pp said, why even bother opening the thread and replying. |
What's so nasty about it? Can't people have differences of opinion? Many people find sex selection distasteful. |
|
Sure if people want to give it an old college try, what the he!l - I think some of us sometimes forget that this board is for everyone trying to TTC not just ones with fertility issues. But it is a sensitive issue for long time TTC'ers, as I well know from those horribly painful days (I have a few IVF cycles under my belt). Truely, the only sex selection that I find distasteful are the ones that use IVF. I mean actually putting your body through all that just for sex selection. Maybe it is unfair of me to judge since I am lucky enough to have boy/girl mix in the family but that is my opinion.
Good luck OP and to all those just wanting a baby. |
Her post was completely unnecessary. If she finds it distateful then stay away from the thread. I am sure a lot of people find IVF and other treatments distateful too and that doesn't make their posts on threads about them all right. |
| i really don't think you can control what sex you're going to have. but it can't hurt to try, i guess. |
| Ingender.com has a lot of information about this. Some of it is very creepy, but some of it isn't that complicated. It sounds like there are two theories re how you can influence one gender over another - timing (shettles) and ph of both your cervical mucus and your husband's sperm. TCOYF has a chapter on the subject, essentially describing the Shettles method and how it fits into temping. |
