Help with names!

Anonymous
Both my husband and I are HORRIBLE with names. We can't really agree on anything and what we have come up with we don't love.

Baby is due in a few weeks. We don't know the sex yet....

I would LOVE any suggestions.

The only rule we have to stick with is that for a girl the middle name must be Jean.

I tend to like last names for boys.

In general I like older generation names that aren't super common today.

We've come up with Evelyn or Ainsley for a girl
Parker for a boy.

But we are not thrilled with any of them...

Any one have any suggestions???

Jean is very 1940s and 1950s so I would pair it with something more modern or recent not Evelyn or maybe something more popular if you don't mind popular names. I would stay away from Barbara Jean, Evelyn Jean, Doris Jean you get the idea.

for girls, my suggestion would be to have a first name of at least 2 syllables, and preferably a vowel rather than consonant ending.

Evelyn jean is okay, but something with an 'e" or "A" or "y" ending might flow better with jean. Zoe Jean; Dahlia Jean; Amelia Jean; Arabella Jean, etc, etc, etc (random names, just giving you the sense of flow). Ainsely fits the bill, but I don't care for the name. Also, we dont know your last name, but that plays a role. Since we have a short, one syll. last name with lots of consonants, our child was given a vowel-heavy, 3 syllable name to balance it out.

For boys: Parker is okay but there are a lot of other great semi trad. names out theren sort of 'like' Parker (imho)..... Dylan, Wyatt, Maxwell, Bailey etc etc etc

stay away from the -dens (aiden, brayden, jayden). So done.

I think Parker is a really nice name for a boy. I'd avoid Logan or Mason - very common/trendy, at least in my circle/family. You could do a lot of middle names for that, depending on your last name. (John would work, for example.)

It's too bad Olivia is popular because Olivia Jean would sound good. (Same with Emma and maybe Caitlin.) Agree that something like Evelyn Jean could be too old-fashioned. Maybe Katherine? Classic, but not clunky and she could be a Katie or a Katie Jean. Alexandra would work too if your last name is short, but I'm biased 'cause that's my daughter's name. (and it's also surprisingly common.) Riley is trendy now, but it would work with Jean. (though it works best if one of you is Irish.) Sarah/Sara or Laura would work. (I'm thinking that a name that ends with a vowel sound goes well with Jean.)

for girls:
Hadley
Amory
Elizabeth

I like Parker a lot and may have considered it for DS1 but our lastname ends in an er. It would help if you told us what the ending of your lastname is. For instance if it's a y I might not say Hadley or Amory.
