Spotsylvania County School Board member advocate for burning books

Anonymous
The Spotsylvania County School Board has directed staff to begin removing books that contain “sexually explicit” material from library shelves and report on the number of books that have been removed at a special called meeting next week ... Two board members, Courtland representative Rabih Abuismail and Livingston representative Kirk Twigg, said they would like to see the removed books burned.

“I think we should throw those books in a fire,” Abuismail said.

That’s actually very disturbing. Burning books?

This is also: He said he doesn’t like the idea of Rapp’s book being on school division library shelves for one more night and that the fact that it is in a school library means public schools “would rather have our kids reading gay pornography than about Christ.”

Every time I consider moving out of the close in DC burbs, I see stuff like this and remember why I can’t.

Does the Bible count as sexually explicit and will he be tossing it in the fire?

????

Sorry, I need to get my lab coat and gloves, smear these alien microbes in a petri dish and observe them. It's fascinating how different they are from everything I know.

Apparently he doesn't have the Song of Solomon version.

The irony is that most kids don't read books anymore, and the porn they watch on their computers or phone screens is probably a lot more sexual explicit than anything in the books the board objected to.

Hm. My school literary circulated over 14,000 books last quarter. Kids are reading.

School librarians could really use some love and support right about now!
