Metropolitan DC Local Politics
| Granted I haven’t been into dc in a while. But why is there a homeless encampment at union station? Where did everyone come from? Is this a new dc policy? |
It’s throughout the city. Look at K St where my office is located. The whiff of urine and pot greets me every morning. Our poor building manager has the cleaning crew spray Febreze on them and their tents but it only helps a little. |
| DC. We are trying to look like SF without the actual tech or business growth. |
Lol OP, it’s a city run by Democrats. What do you expect? |
Spraying Febreeze on people without their permission seems cruel. |

From today's Post:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2021/11/09/dc-homeless-encampments-council-committee-hearing/ Encampments have grown a lot over the past few years, in part because of fears of the dangers of COVID in shelters and the economic and other pressures related to the pandemic. DC has removed many encampments in the area around Union Station. With nowhere else to go, some of the unhoused people have moved to the area in front of Union Station. |
this is satire, right? |
| If the encampment is on Amtrak property, the explanation is that the Amtrak administration has a hands off policy with respect to the homeless. |
