Four Mile Run Valley - Arlington VA

Anonymous
So the geniuses at Arlington County have decided to re-name the long time (but fast gentrifying) African American neighborhood of Green Valley - "Four Mile Run Valley." The Green Valley Civic Association is upset about it because "Four Mile Run Valley does not encompass the Green Valley neighborhood.

Love it when the Arlington liberals try to cancel African American names and culture.

not wanting to rebrand highlights exactly why some people get richer and some don’t. Rebrand, market aggressively, over inflate the price for their home, sell and make a nice fat profit on the sale. Take the profit and move on.

"Four Mile Run" has the same prestige as "Three Mile island"

Is it exactly four miles? Sue for false advertising.

How to create an acronym from Four Mile Run Valley? 4MirV? 4 Mile Run Valley is way too long to say and not hip. Maybe just “The V”?

This seems offensive to green people.

Duh, it's Arlington. We have virtually no blacks here. I think there may be a few bi-racial kids at my school, but there dads are baseball players so that doesn't really count.

True. Looks like the four mile run valley plan includes the road from the Pike to Shirlington. Not a renaming of green valley.

What's the reasoning behind changing this name? Why can't liberals just leave well-enough alone? Talk about wearing out their welcome.

The name required change for equity reasons just as the schools required name changes.

That's a clunky name. To a newcomer, it just looks like a string of unrelated words. Why the change?

Is this the same as renaming Rockville Maryland as "North Bethesda"?
