Test out of quarantine

If dc health allows kids to test out of quarantine by day 7, why are kids not allowed to return to school until day 10?

They are allowed to return to school after day 8 if they test negative -- under DCPS policy. D.C. Health would have them still quarantine for 10 days. They seem to be aware of the discrepancy but not particularly interested in changing it.

I’ve heard of situations where “for equity” they just keep the whole class home for 10 days. Versus not having some kids get a test on day 7 and some unable to do so and having to wait until day 10.
