I recently got a new car, not a fancy brand but it happens to have a powerful engine. I’m not a big car geek but darn it is fun to drive a car with good pick up.
So… sometimes… When I have been stopped as first car at a red light, I will accelerate quickly when the light turns green. Not even speeding, just a quick acceleration. I have noticed that if there is a man in the lane next to me, he will often seem to need to match the pace of my acceleration and make sure he gets out farther in front of me. I admit it’s become a little bit of a game because I feel like by doing my quick acceleration, I’m creating a certain response in the other driver/controlling his behavior without his awareness even. Kind of like a cat pawing at a mouse that it has no plans to really hurt.
Do other people ever do this? And, why is it so much fun??!! |
| Yes, I did this around ages 20-22. Enjoy your mid life crisis lol. |

Yes, it’s fun, OP.
Enjoy! |
| The best was when I had a econobox EV and even if I wasn’t thinking about it I would leave sports cars behind at stop lights and they would all accelerate past me to the next red light. |

My cheap Scion XA is light and fast. Doesn't have to be an expensive car.
And often, it's just one driver is paying more attention than the other. |
| I accelerate quickly all the time because I’m not 80 and I don’t notice what anyone does around me besides my normal defensive driving. |
| I'm often first because the moronic drivers in the next lane over are on their cell phones during the red light and don't notice when it turns green. |
| Ugh. |

Yes, it always amuses me when I pay more attention at the light and start first. Then all the males feel the need to rush past my little corolla. |
That’s hilarious! Why is it only ever men who feel the need to do this? Not all men, of course, but only ever men? |
