Was Stone Ridge everything you hoped it would be for your high school daughter?

Seeking info on educational preparedness/ academic rigor, general culture of school (cliques, how religious, special traditions, etc) , college acceptances, etc....

Wondering the same

No it was not what I thought it would be. It is super cliquey unless you’re in the right sport and college admissions is not great unless you’re a recruited athlete. But the traditions are nice. And I still like it better than the other all girl Catholic schools in the area.

It’s hard to say because last year was unusual with virtual and hybrid learning and my dd hasn’t been through the college process. This year has been going well so far.

What's the right sport?

No. Very cliquey and lots of bullying. Lots of girls had problem with it.

I think you either love it or hate it. There is not a majority, objective point of view regarding this school, as there is with others in the area.

They work hard to stay competitive, and I think they seem able to keep the doors open without too much difficulty.

As with the school, there are those who love or hate the leadership. If you have options, there is certainly no compelling reason to make Stone Ridge your #1 choice.

We love the school, it is a wonderful place for our daughter. Academically challenging with lots of activities (everyone mentions strong sports but also strong arts and social action) and a welcoming community. It is at the limit of our budget but we are very happy with our daughter's experience.

Absolutely yes, DD could not be happier. And she doesn’t play the “right” sport.

Our DD plays no sports but she loves HS at SR. It’s demanding but also a really kind place, and the girls are really sweet to each other.
Our friends with older daughters have been very happy with their college options.
SR is even backing off the DEI insanity from last year. Not solved yet but headed in the right direction.
As parents we’re very happy with SR and highly recommend it.

This is reassuring for us.

We were on the fence between SR and Holton and chose SR because of the cost. I wish we'd chosen Holton. The social dynamics are unforgiving for many and there doesn't seem to be much support -or at least there wasn't for my daughter. Had the pandemic not impacted admissions she would have reapplied to Holton.

Absolutely first rate. Genuine focus on nurturing each kid. Terrific teachers. Responsive-- in my experience-- admin. New facilities/ dining hall/ theater a real bonus.
