Thought experiment, FC Barcelona women vs men's team

Anonymous
So, Barcelona's women's team won the champions League last year. What level of men's team do you think would be an even match up for them? Don't need snide comments, curious about what you really think.

What level of male team would be an even competition against them?

For example, college? A men's amateur team?, A high level u17 MLS next team? Please don't throw out the examples of boys teams beating women's teams, we know that already. Curious for your actual opinion.

Well, the examples of male youth teams beating elite women's teams are really the only data points one could use to project a possible answer to your question. But you don't want to hear about that...ok, sure.

Any mls academy U17 team wins

I think most boys high school teams could be a competitive match. If the boys used tactics to take advantage of their greater size and strength and speed, would be very difficult for women to score any goals

So by like 16-17 the boys(high level) will be faster, quicker, bigger and stronger. Speed allows you to make a bunch of mistakes and not pay a price. This would be across the board on the top boys teams ie every position. The women would lose to any of the pro developmental/Academy teams u16 and up. Though I doubt they would ever play. What’s the point? It would do nothing for either.

Now an interesting game would be Barca women vs USWNT. Barca women’s are faster, quicker, more skilled, higher speed of play, better coached and way more sophisticated tactically. The problem is getting them to play each other when both are in mid season form and playing for something(ie not a friendly). After watching Barca play against teams with top USWNT players, Barca would win easily.

I think Barca women would slaughter a boys HS team and probably beat a MLSNext team more often than not. Perhaps a Top 25 men's soccer program could compete with them.

You are out of your mind. Barca women would get truck rolled by each and every top 25 mens team and they would be seriously challenged by most every MLS Next squad u17 and higher.

Speed and agression from the male players cannot be matched.

As a former female soccer player, I just can’t get enough of men trying to prove how inferior women are. Keep it up, OP, you’re doing swell.

How would the USWNT do in the MLS?

Obviously depends on the specific team, but I think past the U15 boys level any women's team would have problems overcoming the size/strength advantage of a boys team, never mind a full-grown men's team. Again, not talking about a Sunday league local boys/men's team, but a pro or pro-am development/academy team.

A better question/discussion would be comparing how the technical skill level matches up.

The whole 30 years I’ve been playing, boys and man boys trot out this question in my face to start a fight. To assert dominance. You all are boring and tired and dull. Go kick a ball around to make yourself feel better. Making complex arguments for why men are so much better than women makes you the big loser wasting time.

No one is making a complex argument as to why the boys/men would win. After u14 the boys have the physical advantage vs girls the same age. After u17 they have a huge advantage over women. The male players are bigger, stronger, faster. If you did play you would know it and not give a sh#t about it.

It’s the same reason the USWNT wins. The USWNT is not a highly skilled technical team. They are just bigger stronger faster vs other countries. It’s the same way from u9 through college on the women side. It is funny how you take offense at someone saying the men would win because they are bigger stronger faster. That is the women’s game. It is changing in Europe, those women play soccer.

8 men vs 11 women, men would win. come on op

I'd have more sympathy with your case, except that you're almost certainly a white supremacist, transphobe who makes complex arguments about why transwomen should be excluded from competition with ciswomen.
