Hanna Anderson Sizing

Anonymous
Any moms out there shop at Hanna Anderson? Would you say they run true to size or small. I'm shopping for a 3 year old boy who is 48 pounds and 46 inches tall. It looks like a need a 110 but wanted to check in to see if someone could confirm how the sizes run.

This guy is outgrowing 4T/5T but size 6/7 seems just a wee bit too big. I have no idea how to shop for him.

Thanks so much.

I think the height sizing ranges are a good guide - they don't recommend going off of weight. My DD is 6 and about 44 inches, 42 lbs, perfect size 6 at Gymboree. I just bought her a size 120 dress at Hannah A., and its a tiny bit large but totally wearable now - I wouldn't have wanted to buy a size 110 as it might be too small in a month or two. Here is their range....I would go for 120 if your son is 46 inches.

110 cm 42-46 in. 37-48 lbs. 4-6 yrs.
120 cm 46-50 in. 45-55 lbs. 6-8 yrs.

Their sizing is very generous, both in length and in girth (very loose fitting). I find their height recommendations to be pretty accurate.

Since we are at the beginning of the season, and he will probably continue to grow at an astonishing pace, I'd recommend the 120. If it absolutely swamps him and he can't keep the pants/shorts up, exchange it for a size down.

The women at the store emphasize that the clothing runs true to size. My daughter is approx. 38 inches and 32 pounds and I recently bought her size 100 shirt and pants - they fit great. Not too big but have some room for growing. I highly recommend Hannah clothes, they wear great, wash well and last for years. The clothes are cut to grow with kids better than any other brand I've tried.

Girl's Size 100 cm: 38-42 in. and 31-38 lbs.

I'd also try a 120, but the sizes are pretty generous. My 5 year old is still wearing a size 100 dress/shorts set that she got when she was 2 (if I were to buy her something now, it would probably be a 120).

Isn't Hannah Anderson obscenely overpriced? How does the "normal" person afford such stuff? Just wondering.

Hanna andersson has tons of sales and coupons. You just have to know when to buy and when to wait. It's not too overpriced for us b/c my DD will only wear dresses, and has a strong preference for these. So, for example, I paid $30 for a dress that she has probably worn 30 times. It may still fit her next year too.

I wouldn't buy up. I thought my 3.5 year old should be ready for 110 (she is in the 90% for height) and they were swimming on her. That said, I think that by the time she turns four she will be ready for 110.

I only shop their sales, but still, yes, expensive. In the long run it's worth it to me because I'm able to pass items from my first son to his younger brother - I can't do this with e.g. Target clothing, which wears out.

The clothes wear really, really well. The bright patterns also hide a multitude of sins (paint, food, you name it). When DD was 1-3 YO, I'd splurge on one winter outfit per year. She got so much use out of them. The fabric stayed so much softer. And she loved wearing them.

Now that she is 5, I took advantage of some pre-season sales and got her a few summer outfits. The price was comparable to Gap and Lands End. Not inexpensive, but not ridiculous for play clothes that will get a lot of use.

I'm also a fan of buying gently used clothes on ebay.

We've gotten several outfits from them as gifts (from grandparents and good friends). The clothes really wear well, and if a kid can wear the same outfit for 3 years straight, I consider that money well spent.

The size of the dress depends on the style. Some are cut longer and a 90 will work while others work well in size 100. Because of the way they are cut they often work for two years.

I always thought the line of "they wear really well" was a bunch of crap but now I'm a convert too.

We had a play dress combo from Hanna Anderson this fall/winter and I think my daughter wore that set 35 times. I washed it each and every time and it still looks fantastic. In contrast our winter things from Gymboree, Gap, and even Boden are all really showing their wear. Many are now unwearable they're looking so shabby.

Next year I'll be springing for 2 play dress combos. (hopefully waiting for a coupon).

I love Hanna clothes. My son is 43 inches and 42 pounds and wears 110 and seems to have plenty of space for growth. In the PJs the 110s he has are pretty tight.

Agree. I can't tell you how many pairs of DD's leggings from Gymboree have holes in them now after a season of wear, but her Hannas are in great shape after several seasons.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to go with the size 120. I really don't find Hanna's clothing any more expensive than GapKids or Gymboree. My son plays hard so I'd rather invest in some sturdy pieces as opposed to having to buy new clothes all summer. Since I can pass them down to my 1 year old it makes it even more worth it.
