Just look at Virginia
Everyone is focused on the suburbs flipping due to education. But what is even bigger story is that the rural turnout is higher for Youngkin than for Trump. How the hell did that happen with a milk toast republican? The answer is that democrats tried to pass gun laws more strict than California in a state where the gun ownership rate is higher than Iowa and the same as Texas. This ensured record rural anger and turnout. Why can't Democrats just focus on moderate issues like improving access to education and healthcare and actually win elections, instead of focusing on this woke garbage and things that will rile up the other side to such an extent, you are guaranteed to lose with anyone who is not Trump. |
| I don't think gun control is really a losing issue. Most Americans support moderate gun control - Pew found that 53% of Americans actually support tighter gun control laws. Where Democrats lose is on woke stuff. |
| I hope never! Why should owning a gun be prioritized over living a life. Government can’t seem to prevent crazy people from doing mass shootings. (…maybe because they’re too busy harassing minorities?) |
|
NO! It is a winning issue.
And we are about to be vindicated when the S.Ct. strikes down the silly idea that there was ever an individual right to own guns. No other nation believes that way. And the NRA is finished! |
haha, good luck losing every election from now on out then |
Do you know what a wedge issue is? Suburbanites care about gun control for a few weeks after a mass shooting and move on with their lives. Rural and Pro-2A types will vote solely on 2A rights issues and care about little else and will create a civil war over it. So good luck with that. |
Yeah, the truth is the geography of pro- and anti- gun control voters makes it a headwind for Democrats. They need new voters, not more noise aimed at the areas they already have locked up. |
| IMHO the right keeps losing morally every single time there is another school shooting. |
