Middle schools with sports teams

Anonymous
I know APS middle schools have sports teams. Does FCCPS? I can only find information from 2018-2019. I will have a rising 7th grader who really needs the team dynamic to make new friends and we are moving to the area. Thank you!

FCPS does not have middle school sports. What sport does your kid play? There are tons of rec (with school based teams) and local club sport opportunities in this area.

Loudoun County and prince William county both have teams too

In FCCPS, the 8th graders can try out for the JV team. What sport? There are local rec options.

OP here - my kid runs, plays tennis, swims. We are familiar with the community teams but how do kids make friends in the school community without an outlet for socialization? Thanks!

They play Rec sports. What is difficult about this to understand?

Re: tennis and swim - get on a waitlist now for summer pools that have summer swim and tennis teams. Some suggestions:

Chesterbrook, Tuckahoe, Poplar Heights, Mantua, Lee Graham, Langley Swim & Tennis, Cardinal Hill. Varying levels of tennis and swim teams but all those clubs have them.

Overlee and High Point are both nice pools but don't have tennis programs, FYI.

Also I am pretty sure Henderson Middle School has a running club your kid could join.

The kids on the rec teams will be mostly from the school community in FCC. The middle school also has quite a few non-sports clubs and activities, and as a PP mentioned 8th graders can try out for the high school JV teams. And as another PP mentioned, if your kid likes to swim, plan now to join a summer pool, which will have a swim team.
