Not necessarily weaning, but baby is nursing less in quantity/time as well as dropping a feeding every so often, and I feel like a low key hormonal mess.
Had a very small bit of spotting when this started (nursing less), which makes me wonder if my period is also about to start. Anyone else feel like a hormonal wreck when they started weaning or nursing less? Any tips on how to lessen negative side effects of weaning? |
I recall reading about women having a rough time hormonally when they weaned. I was watching for it myself and escaped without that issue, but it definitely can happen. Hugs and I’m sorry you’re having a rough time.
I did. I just weaned faster to get it over with.
Yes, that first “welcome back” PMS is awful! Be kind to yourself, OP. It goes back to normal in the next cycle.
I was a mess. Tried weaning when my DD turned 2 to try for another baby. She screamed constantly when denied and I cried at every commercial there was—laundry detergent (the Tide commercial with a toddler), new cars with infant seats, Shutterfly/vista print commercials. My husband told me he couldn’t live like that. I continued nursing (at a reduced rate), got pregnant (my OB said not to worry, that my milk would dry up—it didn’t), had my DS (my DD then decided big kids didn’t nurse), and my DS happily weaned at a year. Go figure.
Didnt happen to me but my first postpartum was a trainwreck so I believe you.
Every time I dropped a feed I had a bad day or two, and my period had been back for months. I think it’s very common/normal. But it should go away pretty soon.
