Decades ago no one understand the extent to which wealth - here, oil and coal - would act increasingly insane in order to protect itself. No one understood that big business would create propaganda campaigns to burn peoples’ minds right here in the good old USA. That was something that happened in North Korea or Russia or Nazi Germany. The cigarette companies were in the midst of a propaganda campaign saying that cigarettes were safe but I don’t think anyone put the pieces together until the 1990s of the extent to which they’d been hacking people’s brains and hiding the truth.
