Why so long for report cards?

Anonymous
I'm new to APS and just saw that the marking period ends on 11/1, teachers have a day off to figure out grades on 11/2 and we don't get report cards until 11/19. Why the 17 day delay? That seems like a long, long time. Especially with a whole day off for grade prep. My previous district was one week with no day off for grading.

Especially since they write the same thing for almost every child.

It only takes that long for elementary school. All other grades have grades posted within a week.

+1. The elementary report cards have narrative comments secondary schools don’t, and all of the comments get reviewed by school admin before report cards are released. That takes time.

In theory. But last year I somehow received the comments of not just my child but every child in the class. I read the first 10 or so just to confirm my theory that they were all the same. The 11th had a different last line and I stopped reading.
