Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
| We just moved to McLean from Old Town where we had tons of choices. Just wondering if there is any restaurants that people recommend w/kids where you can get a good meal? |
| If you like sushi, Endo Sushi has always been a favorite of mine. |
|
it's part of a small local chain and it's in a mall but I really love Coastal Flats, in Tysons Corner mall. Consistently good food and service, and family-friendly. Da Domenico has pretty good Italian - it's on the West side of Tysons on route 7. And the Lebanese Taverna in Tysons II Galleria has good food.
I like the Idylwood Grill and Wine Bar behind the Pimmit shopping center, but haven't taken my daughter there yet. I also love Evo Bistro/wine bar in Mclean, but it's not especially family-friendly, so I'd save that for date night or happy hour with the girls. |

If you like beer, another restaurant in the Coastal Flats family is down Gallows Road, called Sweetwater, brews their own beer and root beer. All their restaurants serve great rolls, and we've never had a bad meal at any of their restaurants!
Brio in Tysons mall is good as well (Italian). |
| Kazan turkish restaurant is soooooooo good. Seriously, after I discovered it I wondered how I have lived my life this long without it. |
I am not familiar with Turkish food. What do you recommend? |
| I wasn't familiar with it either, but everything I've had there so far has been amazing. There is a chicken Yogurtlu dish that I love, the Donner kabob is great, and there was another Sultan dish that was excellent. Also, get the mezze for the appetizer so you can sample a whole bunch of the appetizers. |
| In downtown Mclean you won't find a ton of stuff that is kid friendly as compared to Old Town. But, you can always have a relaxed meal with kiddo's at McKeevers Pub, Joe's Burgers, Mclean Pizza, Rocco's and Mclean Family Diner. Amoo's kabob is good for takeout as is Sweet Leaf. I haven't tried Chop N Chicken but it sounds good! My kids absolutely love Cafe Delux by Crate and Barrel so we tend to go there for lunch on the weekends. Oh, and the Pie Tanza in Falls Church (not Arlington, which is a zoo) is also a good one to hit up with kids. |
| Evo Bistro for Med Tapas, Moby Dick for Kabob, Tachibana for sushi, Kezans for Turkish |
| As previous poster mentioned, Tachibana is excellent. Their lunch deals are the best (about $10/plate), and they have great Japanese food. |
