Abandoning a running car on Wisco for... CHICK FIL A?!?!?!

Mid-day today I was driving on Wisconsin in Tenleytown when the car in front of me stopped in front of Chick-Fil-A, a young woman hopped out of the passenger's side and she ran into the restaurant. The car was sitting in the right lane with its blinkers on. At first I thought, oh, its an Uber dropping someone off. This is illegal and annoying, but I am not going to get bent out of shape. The car kept sitting. And sitting. And sitting. Finally I decided to go around it, but the traffic was thick and I couldn't get over. The car behind me is beeping. I begin beeping -- really laying it on -- until finally there is a break in the left hand lane and I get over. I drive slowly next to the window to give a What the hell look and see... THERE IS NO ONE IN THE CAR. This woman left her car running on Wisconsin avenue, in a driving lane with blinkers on, to go into Chick-Fil-A. She must have climbed over the console and scooted out the passenger side door to avoid the thick traffic in the left lane or to make it less obvious she was just leaving her car running in the middle of a major road. I was beeping at an empty car like a crazy person. This is insane, yes? I can't even imagine what the ticket would be if the police showed up. So tell me, does this happen more often than I am aware? My mind was really blown. And what WOULD the ticket be??

I'm impressed. There can't be that many drivers here who can easily wriggle out the passenger door Just for this reason, OP, it's safe to say it won't occur very often. Most of these stops are with a driver still in the car.

Chic Fil A causes traffic problems wherever they are I
In DC - I have stopped going to the Costco in NE unless it is a Sunday and the one on Maryland Ave was so bad they had to reroute the streets.
