its that time of year again... my son needs a new wardrobe and I cant afford to go new...
Ive looked at the salvation army here locally and havent had much luck in his size.... I looked at the consignment store in my town but the outfits where still about 6 to 8 dollars each
I dont mind traveling so if someone knows a good consignment place please let me know Ive been watching cragislist but havent seen my sons size pop up... my sons starting preschool and we just moved into a small place with no washer.... I work and go to school so im trying to figure out how many outfits we really need hes starting to potty train and Im praying by fall he will be so he can enter the preschool hes signed up for hes going to daycamp for the summer and I was told they would work on potty learning there.... |
| Value Village - I use it all of the time. If you dont have a washing machine at home, I would go with 9 outfits.... |
| School yard sales, multiples sales, church sales, places like that. One or two Saturdays and I'm set. I buy as much as I can, but do try to get 9 or so outfits. The one I went this Sat had pants for $.25, shirts for $.50, pj's .75. I bought $12 worth and would have bought more if they had had more in LO's size. I find these sales from some mom's newslettrs and mom's groups I belong to. They're free and email me the info. If I can, I go w/ a friend so we can help each other look. |
| What size is your DS and where do you live? I'm just about to get rid of size some clothes - I think they are mostly 2T and 3T. Would be happy to pass them on to you if it suits. |

Try Dani's Duds - a MASSIVE kids' consignment sale next weekend (4/17 and 18) at the Dulles Expo Center. Everything is half-priced on Sunday and I have gotten piles of shirts and pants for $1 or $2 each.

Especially in the younger sizes, there is an unbelievable amount of clothes to choose from and very well priced. There is a $5 entrance fee. |

You should let it be known if you are very receptive to receiving hand-me-downs. (Many people are not.)
I am so happy to get most of my kids' clothes - and very nice ones - from different friends, neighbors and church folks with older kids. I go through and select what I like and pass the rest on again. My kids always look nice. My theory is that after clothes have been washed once by anyone, they are used clothes. Who could tell they are handed down? This is how I have a college fund. |
