Dc restaurants with covered outdoor dining

Anonymous
I’m meeting up with a friend for dinner tonight and it looks like it will be raining. Right now, I’m still sticking to outdoor dining. What restaurants in DC (closer to Lincoln Park if possilbe) have covered outdoor dining and heaters?

Covered can be tricky. Could you get a reservation at St. Anselm? Ethiopic has a covered patio. Toki Underground just opened a covered patio. Also, a bunch of places down on Barracks Row have covered streateries now, I'm not sure of which ones but worth looking into places like Ambar. One more place that comes to mind is Indigo.

On a Monday that’s hard but check out the restaurants in cathedral commons- many of them are open Monday and have covered areas. Sfoglina Van Ness is also completely covered outdoors.

Surfside has a big covered patio. I'm not familiar with too much on the Hill, sorry.

Rasika had covered outdoor when we went a couple months ago. We are also still sticking with outdoor until our youngest two are vaccinated.

I think Tortuga has covered seating, and Trattoria Alberto.

Tomate and Tabard Inn in Dupont Circle have it too

There's tons of stuff in Navy Yard that is covered (Emmy Squared, Blue Jacket, Osteria Morini) plus near the baseball stadium (Walters). Stuff along H Street tends to mostly be under umbrellas, so not great for rainy dining, though there's a couple casual Mexican spots (Chupacabra, Fresca Taqueria) that do. Maketto has some seating out back that is covered, I think, but definitely check in advance because I'm not sure how much of their outdoor seating would be protected from rain. And then St. Anselm by Union Market. Also by Union Market is Stellina Pizzaria -- I think their outdoor space is under an overhang and would be protected.

I'm probably forgetting some.

Oh, and some Easter Market and Penn Ave SE options have coverings: Hawk & Dove and Tunnicliff's Tavern I think both have covered outdoor seating. They are both basic pub fare, nothing to write home about, but decent quality and have a sort of classic DC feel (so might be enjoyable for someone traveling).

If its covered and enclosed its worse than eating indoors as at least there is an HVAC indoors but no air circulation in a fully enclosed tent.

Circa in FB + Tonic in FB. Not sure if Belga on Hill has its greenhouses back up yet+ a place across the street from it had igloos.
