| I’m moving my family to the Baltimore area next year to take a position at Hopkins. What school districts are the best in that general area? Coming from excellent public schools in Westchester so hoping to find something similar. |
| Howard county |
| Absolutely Howard. You will find lots of other kids of Hopkins employees, hospital, professors and APL which is in the county. |
|
Howard county- Elliott City
Anne Arundel County- Severna Park Baltimore County- Towson schools or up north in Hereford/Parkton |
| You don’t want to commute to Hopkins from Howard County. Towson is a good option for a relatively short commute. My dh is a surgeon at Hopkins and many doctors live in North Baltimore, including us. Roland Park and Mt. Washington offer good elementary/middle public options, and there are also any Catholic and independent private schools, |
This isn’t accurate, most Hopkins doctors live in Baltimore city or county. |
NP Huh? I used to commute from the southernmost part of HoCo into Baltimore, which was about 30 min during rush hour. |
The hospital alone employs 17,000 doctors and 30,000 employees. There are enough to be represented well in all 3 areas. Also 7,200 employees at APL and another 1500 professors at University (not counting Medical School). |
| Catholic schools. |
This |
| Howard County is definitely the number one school district near Baltimore, but Anne Arundel isn’t that much further behind. Especially Severna Park, Broadneck, Arundel, Crofton, & South River pyramids will be similar to Howard schools. |
I know of at least one who lives in Columbia. Been doing the commute for over 20 years at this point, and doesn’t complain. |
| Towson pyramid in balto county k-5, then move to one of the 5000 awesome private schools. |
You are incorrect. I know quite a number of doctors both on staff at Hopkins and ones who work frequently at Hopkins who live in Ellicott City and Columbia. Many located to those areas for the schools and don't consider the commute into Hopkins to be a problem. |
| We work at Hopkins homewood campus and live just south of Towson. Great public schools and also a ton of private options. |
