How/where to sell student instruments?

My kids are done with their violins and cellos. How do we most easily sell them? Do any stores buy them for resale?

I consigned my daughter's violin at Potter's, the luthier in Silver Spring. It's going to take a little time to sell, since my daughter is small but advanced for her age, so the quality of the instrument is probably a little bit higher than what most families would pay for at that fractional size.

If your instruments are more run-of-the-mill, they will sell faster.

+1 If they’re student-quality instruments, you won’t get much for them, but they might make a huge difference in the life of a low-income kid.

Yes to your local Facebook sale group. I sold a very generic beginner violin that I had ordered off of Amazon, and got about 3-4 immediate inquiries.

Depends what it is, OP. Different instruments won't have the same price range.

You can donate to DCYOP or any school that has a program, and take the tax deduction. Way less hassle and financially not that different.
