Best semi-custom cabinetry lines

We are doing a new build and although I realllllly want full inset cabinets, I don't think we have 100K just for them. So we're looking at the next step down in lines - the KD our builder sent us through strongly recommended Europa (Ultracraft), but she basically only carries three lines and I'm wondering if I should get a second opinion as online reviews seem somewhat mixed. What cabinet lines have you installed and been happy with? i am going with basic b*tch white so I don't need a million different color options, I just want something sturdy and elegant without a ton of embellishment -- but I do want a good number of perks like the pull out spice cabinet, double trash, etc. TIA!

Just go with a HD or Lowes brand. You don't want anything fancy.

We have Kraftmaid from Lowe's now and it is not holding up at all. I'd like to upgrade at least a little for the next place.

You need to ask the kitchen designer what lines they do currently use and then come back here and ask about those. No sane builder is going to use your own cabinetry selection in this environment because it could really screw up job timing.

Unless you’re paying as you go and construction delays are on you?

any savings you get is not going to be worth the headache of dealing with a new cabinet company/brand/supplier for the first time.

And honestly, i think they all kind of stink besides custom. The rest all seem to have a 10-15 year life span before they look dated and dinged up

Which Kraftsmaid did you go with out of curiosity?

You can get the special "innards" -- the spice organizer, roll-out shelves -- separate from whatever cabinet line you choose. My kitchen designer ordered those for me from other brands.

We have HD KraftMaid cabinets in our McCraftsman. Total junk. Do not get those. They looked nice when we bought the house but they are terrible.

Honestly I don't remember off the top of my head, but it was one of the cheaper lines. We knew we wouldn't be in our house now for more than 5 years so it was not worth a major investment, but 4.5 years on I feel like all the cupboard hinges are in a somewhat precarious state. To be fair, the drawers are still in really good shape though.

We’re designing a kitchen overhaul. When I look at full inset, I worry that over time if anything warps or swells or is slightly out of line, they become a pita to close. Just to flat cabinets that meet for a similar look, and much, much easier to make adjustments

I’m loving the way that inset looks but agree that over time people regret going that route. There’s also less space inside.

I just moved into a house with kraftmaid cabinets from 2014. They are amazing! Only problems are a few exterior dings from rough use. But no warping, etc

We have Koch cabinets and the inset was the same price as the overlay.

We have Kraftmaid from a non-big-box supplier (small company that our contractor routinely worked with for years). Knock on wood, holding up well so far for 5+ years.

We used Diamond brand cabinets from a cabinet shop (they're available at Lowes too but I've read you have to be careful with the quality via that route.) They've held up well over the past 8 years.

We had Diamond in our last house and got them from a wholesaler Kitchensforless.com I think. It was a lot cheaper than Lowe's

Just an FYi in case anyone is thinking of using them. We thought they were good cabinets.
