Help me decide! White or Wood/Chestnut blinds?

Anonymous
I'm getting new window treatments for our 100 year old home. Faux-wood blinds - but I need help choosing the color!! I'm stuck between white and chestnut.

Our walls are light grey, trim is all white - so the safe bet would be white. But we also have warm natural red oak floors, and have mostly wood furniture. Our first floor is a lot of natural wood, light grey, and shades of blue and teal, which contrasts nicely with our red oak floors and maple wood kitchen cabinets.

These are front-facing windows. We have many windows we are getting done - 2 in living room, 2 in the kitchen, and 6 upstairs.

Please help me decide!

I should also add that we have really beautifully trimmed windows, that are original to the house. It is colonial style wood trim, painted white, and the first floor windows have a very deep recess to them - 10-14" deep.

White. I've had the chestnut blinds in a previous house and they make every room so much darker.

White trim = white blinds.
