Boarding School 2022 Thread

Anonymous

Starting a thread for students applying to boarding schools. My daughter is applying to Choate, Taft, and SAS.

Where are your students applying and how is it going? Are you planning to submit to take the SSAT?

Guidance from previous applicants is welcome. Thanks

Exeter or bust.

Applying to Exeter, Andover, Putney, and St. Paul's. Going alright at this point, but I suppose we'll see once we hear on admissions, LOL. We're at a K-12 otherwise considered strong on this board, so will be "fine" if boarding does not work out.

Yes, we are planning on SSAT.

Are your kids repeating 9th grade at boarding school or going straight from 8th?

I'm the 15:49 poster and we are applying straight from 8th.

We’re applying to Emma Willard, Mercersburg, NMH, Kent, and Loomis Chaffee. I’m glad we had a chance to visit a bunch of schools, that really helps me and my daughter figure out what’s the best school for her. Interviews have been going well (we think) and are almost done.

Are you coming from public or private?

Loved St. Paul’s when we visited pre-Covid. Ended up not applying and stayed local but it was our number one choice.

DD is applying to Exeter and Andover from private. I have told her it’s a lottery but she wants to try anyway.

Mercersburg, LOL why? Seriously why? The kids I know that went there did not end up at college.
