Nantucket in April?

How enjoyable is this time frame for Nantucket? Our kids spring break is early April. I’m guessing it’s too cold for swimming but maybe eating on the beach would still work?

Average temps in April are 37-51 F.

You've got to be kidding.

No.

Early spring is not pleasant at all. Fall and early winter are still lovely and comparatively warm, but Feb, March and April are miserable.

Freezing. No.

We are often on the cape in March/April. It’s chilly and not spring yet. We have fires in the fireplace. We can walk on the beach but not sit. I like being there for a week or two at that time of year but it’s not where I would go for an expensive vacation.

I love Nantucket no matter what. So I would go in April, no problem. No one is there so some of the shops are still closed but many are beginning to reopen. I love being on the Cape and on Nantucket in March/April because of that. But I also like walking on the sand in long pants and a turtleneck and sweater. And building a bonfire for lunch and sitting around it. Yes it is chilly but it is also pretty as the island greenery starts to come alive slooooowly. April is better than March, certainly, if you're there to visit and relax. The golf courses are open if you like golf. You will be bundled up though because the wind is blowing in the spring. You also could arrange to go deep sea fishing one day, which is a ton of fun. In a reverse, you could take the fast ferry to Hyannis and back for a day trip, if things go horribly south and everyone is unhappy.

Have you ever been to Nantucket? If you have then you know what's there and what you would like to do.

If you haven't then maybe you're better off going someplace more in-season. Of course, when you go to Nantucket off season then you get great rates plus now you can say you've been to Nantucket!

Don’t waste your time it’s nicer to go off-season in the fall or Christmas but definitely not in early spring! There will be no leaves on trees it will probably be cold and rainy and will feel very gloomy.

hahaha omg it will be so cold then! You can swim if you want to die and sit on the beach in full coat and hat.

I love Nantucket any time of year - April is actually great even though some things aren’t open for the season yet. The Daffodil Festival in late April is a really fun time to go.

we own a house in MV. ACK will be too cold to enjoy in April.

You people lack imagination. I lived in England for awhile and spent my weekends exploring frigid beach towns. Loved it!

OP go to Nantucket in April. It will be what you make of it.
