Any advice during/after a tonsillectomy for a almost 3 year old?

Does anyone have any advice for recovery, foods, etc to keep my little one as happy as possible? Also, how was the experience for you? What can I expect? What advice can you share? We are staying in the hospital for 24 hours. Did you have issues when vomitting? What worked for you in general? Thanks.

we just had our DS's tonsils out in early December-due to his age we did stay over night at the hospital-
As far as "recovery" foods-fluids are the most important thing (per drs orders) in fact if they are not urinating alot before they leave the hospital ( my son was in diapers so they weighed his diapers every 3 hours) they wont let you leave.
My son is an an awful eater-BUT they say popsicles/fudgicles/ juice/my son actually ate a few coissants, pastina, scrambled eggs...

Good luck-my only "surprise" was how long the recovery actually was-I expected it to be quicker as several parents said their kids rebounded quickly- my son also had his adnoids out too which i hear is a faster recovery BUT we had him home from daycare for 10 days and he laid on our coach for about 3 days..-I ended up getting my mom to come up and stay with him as I didnt have the ability to take the additional time off-by day 11 he was back to his normal self-and around day 7 he could start eating things like crackers..and chix tenders which are dietary staples at our house.

Good Luck!!
