| I want to mix up our usual books and start adding in some longer books with less pictures. DD is 4 with a vivid imagination and an unaccounted for fear of bears. |
| Frog and Toad! |

Mine liked The Boxcar Children enough that we are reading it a second time.
I have Little House in the Big Woods and Charlotte’s Web on the shelf but not sure if they are too advanced and/or too sad. |
| My 4 yo is loving Charlotte's Web. |
|
The Ramona books.
Mouse and the Motorcycle, James and the giant peach |
| Ramona, Pippi and Princess in Black |
| +1 for Ramona and Mercy Watson. For Ramona, start with "Beezus and Ramona" |
| My Father’s Dragon |
|
Second Zoey and Sassafras! My 4yo DD and 6yo DS both like them.
I remember reading Boxcar Children and the Little House books when I was 6 or so. |
|
+1 My Father’s Dragon
Flat Stanley Gail Carson Levine’s Princess Tales I know you want to get away from picture books, but I highly recommend the Quiltmaker books by Jeff Brumbeau. While beautifully illustrated, they are longer, stories with a much higher percentage of text than your average picture book. |
Too many bears |
Zoey and Sassafras’s x1000. |

Mercy Watson series
The Lighthouse Family series Heartwood Hotel series |
