Infertility Support and Discussion
|
Has anyone tried her seminars? She is an acupuncturist who also holds mind/body seminars to help with reducing the stress of infertility treatments. I'm pretty desperate here. I'm not very good with "postive thinking" and stress reduction exercises or meditation. I absolutely hate stuff like yoga. I tried seeing a hypnotherapist for stress reduction. I see an acupuncturist. I am 41 and in the TWW wait of my second IVF round and I am pretty sure it didn't work.
I was wondering if this was helpful to anyone. I'm not trying to be insulting to anyone but as you can tell from what I've written above, I'm not very good at anything considered New Age. It's not that I don't think it works. I just don't seem to be wired that way. |

I participated in one of Lisa's mind/body seminars last year. I would recommend it but I don't think it;s a 100% "must do." I am also somewhat skeptical of meditating/new age-y stuff. She does ask you to meditate every day and keep a diary of your experiences. I found it helpful, but I can't honestly say that I've kept it up after finishing the class. Although I did try to meditate/use the relaxation techniques during particularly stressful situations. Personally, I found the class to be more helpful with coping with infertility than with actually helping me get pregnant (but maybe if I had been better about keeping up the meditation it would have helped more).
If I were you I'd get Alice Domar's book "conquering infertility." Lisa's course is based on a lot of the stuff in that book (Lisa trained at Alice Domar's institute) and reading that book might help you decide if you think you'd get anything out of the class. Good luck!!!! |
| Her support group is meeting tonight if you want to come see what she is like. I get a lot out of her perspectives and do think that her group is the best way for me to manage dealing with my infertility, but I am also one to do yoga and meditate. |
| PP 14:32 here -- I too would recommend the support group as an intro to Lisa and her approach. That support group was a real lifeline for me (it is free with a $10 donation to Resolve). |
| I agree with PPs about her once-a-month workshop. It is the 2nd Thu of each month and is a good way to check out meditation and mind/body techniques, in addition to having group conversation about various infertility related issues. It has really helped me tremendously and I am not much of a new age-y type either. |
