| Anyone know what grades their parish is supporting for CYO this year? I have heard some are only hosting 7th/ 8th grades. Ours has yet to confirm what grades will be included. Thanks. |
| 7/8 grades cyo only at our school. |
| OP where are you located? We heard in Arlington that 3rd grade and up are being hosted. Right now they are figuring out the schedule. I did not realize that some parishes were not. Kids (the under 12) should have a first shot and be on their second when basketball starts. |
| When does the season start? |
|
So for the Arlington diocese it starts December 4. That should give time for some vaccinations to begin. https://www.arlingtondiocese.org/catholic-sports/nvjcyo/ |
| We are hosting 3-8 but requested 3-6 start after New Year vacation hoping vaccinations would have started by then. |
| Grades 4-8 at St Mark |
| Is the diocese requiring vaccinations to play? I don’t know many parents who are running to the head of the line to get their elementary kids vaccinated. |
I am running to the front of the line. And I know many others are wanting it. |
| I think it will be split re vaccination in the younger grades. But at least for those with risks they have the option. |
What do you mean? |
| Half will get vaccination and half will not in the ES age range. |
| Apparently parishes get to decide what they are doing. So not sure why they are not fielding teams. |
Parishes will decide how many teams and students per team, but how will the parish teams play each other in grade-based leagues without consistency across the board? Also, unclear if teams will get adequate gym space to practice. We were told to expect fewer games. With all the uncertainty, we are signing our son up for a Fairfax county team instead. At least we know he will compete against other teams in a league all winter. Bummer because he wants to play with his Catholic school friends. |
| PP- many kids at our school do both. |
