Isn’t gen x in their 50s and 60s now? I think young people just genuinely don’t see the difference between them and boomers. When you are 20, 35 seems old.

Not quite. Even by the most generous cutoff the oldest millennial would be 40 this year. (And many consider the millennial generation to start in 1983 or 1984)
