Fertility clinic recommendations in DC area

Anonymous
Hello - my husband and I recently moved to DC from London, UK. We had done tests back home and found out we will need IVF treatment due to low sperm count. Is there any recommendations for good fertility clinic in the DC area?

Unfortunately we are also new to the whole health insurance game here - We understood that IVF and other fertility treatments are not covered by all the insurance plans. However, we are wondering if any of the hormone drugs is covered by Federal gov insurance plan to help save a bit of money.

Thanks in advance!

Which state did you move to? My understanding is that Fed plans do not pay for meds (spouse is a Fed and we did IVF in 2018), or at least ours didn't (BCBS Fed). If you are in Maryland, the state has an IVF mandate so you could purchase insurance and once you meet whatever requirements apply, you will have some coverage.

Federal insurance plans stopped covering IVF procedures and drugs a few years ago. If you meet the requirements then Shady Grove has a shared risk IVF program where you get up to 6 cycles for a set fee and your money back if there is no live birth or you choose to leave the clinic.

I would not recommend Shady Grove if you are late 30s/early 40s.

Curious why not SGF for AMAs, and which one would you recommend?

How about 34, single, overweight but fit (not obese), and not 100% sure you want to be a single mom but thinking about freezing your eggs to keep your options open if you ever meet the love of your life?

I was successful on my first try at GWU when I was 40 and had success again at 44.
Two other clinics in the area suggested that i move to donor egg, but GW was open to me trying with OE. Glad I did.
I did not have insurance that covered IVF so was happy to minimize cycles.
