Theme is scary movie night but what else can we do for fun before the movie? I’m at a loss for ideas- kids are 13 -14 years old. Tx

What kind of toppings for a bar like this?

My daughter does apple slices drizzled with caramel and sprinkled with granola. She calls them apple nachos.

That would make for a truly terrifying outing during a pandemic.

I'm all for the themed food, like witches finger cookies (finger shaped cookies tipped with a sliced almond for the nail), vampire mouth cookies (half graham crackers sandwiched with mini marshmallows), ghost and spider pizzas, some kind of red punch with ice hands (freeze water in disposable gloves).

We did timed Mummy Wraps and eating donuts from a string game. Made their own pizza too
Didn't need too much else as they really enjoyed just talking with each other. Then put on the (outdoor) movie and roasted marshmallows on the firepit.

decorate mini pumpkins

smores if you have a fire pit...you can do random things like different types of cookies, reeses cups and york patties in addition to chocolate, etc.

ouija board

run around outside with glow necklaces and bracelets

kind of depends if they're boys or girls and how mature they are.

When I was 13 one girl’s parents hosted a co-ed Halloween sleepover in the basement! We watched some horror movie—Candieman?—and her parents “left some beers and wine coolers downstairs”. Old fashioned spin the bottle at one point, who knows what else.

Nothing really bad came of it, and at the time I remember thinking coolest parents ever. In retrospect, wow. Don’t do this.

I don’t think boys would want to do this.

Spooky decorations
Fun Halloween playlist
Karaoke machine or microphone
Fun masks or hats available to try on
+1 on Oujia board
Also, palm reading, tarot cards
Games like Cards Against Humanity (I know that’s mature but there are similar ones for younger kids)

Fire pit. Lots of seating set up conversion style
At this age, most kids like to hang out. You can do a scavenger hunt in pairs. Have lots of flashlights. My daughter (who has had a few parties) likes to set it up with a friend before the party starts - I would never dream of getting trying to do it myself.
