Anyone have a husband with a hydrocele?

DH has a hydrocele and the urologist doesn't think it should hinder our TTC efforts. Two years ago we got pregnant on the first try. This time, we've tried for 1 month and I am now in the 2ww of the second month. I'm 35. How long would you wait before asking for a sperm analysis?

My DH has one and the docs (OB and REs) told us we should be fine. But, his counts have always been borderline subpar for count, morphology and motility. When I was 35/36 we got pregnant twice on our own after a number of months of trying (first one MC). Now we haven't been able to get pregnant at all, and docs mostly blame my age (now 40), although I'm not convinced that DH's counts haven't also affected things. I think when the RE's say "fine" they mean that his counts are not unsurmountable with IVF or ICSI if necessary, not that it is 100% fine for natural conception.

So were his counts borderline subpar before the hydrocele as well, or do you not know that?

We don't know - he never was tested before.
