How soon did you show with #3 and how do I hide it?

Anonymous
I’m like 8 weeks and my stomach is poofy and clothes just aren’t laying right. I’m 42 with #3. Im a little chubby - BMI 26. Im not ready to tell people. How do I hide it? My body shape is more on the straight side. Im usually thinner in the middle with my weight in my legs. There is no good part of me to show off. Ugh.

Ha. Definitely by 12 weeks (with my first it was like 26). I was WFH so no one really saw me.

I feel you. I'm 39 and pregnant with #3. Felt bloated at 8 weeks. Felt like I needed maternity clothes by 11-12. I'm 20 now and am huge! Feel like I am already starting to waddle...

I was showing by 8 weeks with #3. I’m sure a lot of it was bloat but I’m naturally thin/petite so a little belly looks big on me. Thanks think being slightly heavier actually helps you hide it longer.

At least it’s nearly fall, just wear chunky sweaters and leggings.

OP here. That’s the problem, I can’t. #1 I work in a professional environment and I’m usually in sheath dresses. #2 I look horrid in leggings and a baggy sweater. My shape doesn’t support it. I look twice as big.

A plan for you:

1. start dressing like Ina Garten

2. leave chip bags, little Debbie boxes, and fast food wrappers all around your workstation.

3. If you want to kick it up a notch, every Monday come in with a plate of brownies, cookies, cakes, etc. (No need to actually bake them, just pick something up at giant on the way into work and plop it onto a plate.) Tell everyone you spent all weekend baking.

Everyone will think you just let yourself go a bit. Then they will feel extra guilty when you announce your pregnancy when it turned out you were actually growing another human being!

Lol. I’m so close to just let go!! Ha, but I think they’d be on to me. And I’m trying to find a look that makes me feel mildly attractive. I feel gross.

Oversized blazers! Even if you look super pregnant (to you) the loose hang of a too big blazer really distracts. Admittedly not necessarily the most flattering choice but it’s reasonably professional and hides the weight.

Why hide it unless you think you job is in jeopardy if your boss finds out your pregnant? It would be rude of co-workers to ask if you were pregnant or gaining weight and you're not obligated to tell them. If someone does ask you can always say no.

I am 20 weeks with #3 and feel like it’s super obvious but whenever I tell someone they look genuinely surprised. I realized I mostly look pregnant to myself, unless I wear skintight clothes. People are conditioned not to ask and may secretly wonder but that’s all. Wear long baggy dresses! Forget trying to look good because actually while pregnant what looks best is often clothes that say “hey I’m pregnant not fat!” Which isn’t what you want.

It is totally understandable and common to not want to share yet.

This blogger is way more fashionable than I am, but I thought some of the tips were helpful.

Vest, scarves, and structured blazers are helpful!

8 weeks for me! I was hiding maternity skirts under longer tops by 10 weeks. When I told people at 12 weeks, they all said "Well, your belly button popped two weeks ago!"
