DW and I are planning to watch a horror movie each weekend this month but aren’t sure which ones to pick. Internet lists recommend dozens of different movies and that’s too many to pick from. We want something relatively recent (after 2000), absolutely terrifying, and relatively good plot. We haven’t seen many horror movies. The last few were A Quiet Place (we enjoyed), Bird Box (it was fine), Hereditary (a total mind f**k) and Get Out (not really scary but we loved it).
TIA |
My all time favorite is The Blair Witch Project (original).
If you enjoy mind f*cks you might like Midsommer. A Quiet Place 2 was good. |
I asked my 16 year old...she recommended
1. Cabin in the Woods and while a bit older than you prefer (1996) 2. Scream and when I inquired she said the following was fine too: 3. It |
do you want straight up horror, or campy horror with a comedic twist, psychological horror, or bloody horror? |
I tend to go for older, suspenseful horror movies (The Shining, The Exorcist, The Omen, etc.) but agree Blair Witch Project was good. Paranormal Activity also scared the heck out of me (enjoyably so). And I found The Witch very creepy. |
A bit older than what you are looking for but my all time favorite horror movies are:
Event Horizon the thing (I liked the remake also) The shining The Alien series |
Thanks! These are good, but we've seen TBWP and AQP2. Midsommer will probably end up on the list. |
Straight horror or psychological horror are preferred. |
Thanks...I Still need to watch A Cabin In The Woods |
House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
|
Slightly older, but: Cube (1997) |
If you loved Get Out…try Us also from Jordan Peale. |
Hellraiser
Train to Busan The Host Nightmare on Elm Street Rosemary's Baby Texas Chainsaw Massacre Cabin in the Woods The Road Just saw The PPlatform and that was pretty good too |
I loved pandorum |
You should watch the tv series EVIL. It just got taken off Netflix, but is now on Paramount Plus.
Scary AF |
