We are zoned for GW middle school next year. My child has ADHD and sensory issues. Medication allows him to do well in school, and he will be in TAG math. He is pretty regulated at school (much improved with meds) and functions well at school with accommodations. At home, he is quiet and tired from his day, but relative to past years does well). He’s “young” socially, but has a few close buds—though I know friends change in Middle. Overall, I’d say his social skills are fine, not great.
My concerns coming from a smaller ACPS school are: 1) number of kids and getting lost in the shuffle 2) noise/chaos level especially at lunch and passing time etc. 3) social scene (he has a couple of close friends going, but I know friends change in Middle) Final question: do you feel your child is well supported and able to thrive? |
There's literally an instagram account with videos of vicious fights at GW. I would avoid.
