There's quite a few high achieving kids applying to competitive colleges in this community. Are there any safety schools that deserve some love?
We toured elon on our way down to visit Wake Forest and it was a lovely little school. DD probably would’ve ended up there if she didn’t get off the waitlist at wake.
DD really liked Muhlenberg in PA.
University of South Florida, Temple, and College of Charleston (had decent merit aid)
George Mason -- we're in Virginia and he's a computer science/computer engineering guy
Loyola University in Chicago - gorgeous lakeside campus.
My kid fell for Juniata College. It is small and sweet but quite isolated. Still, that means campus activities are well attended, and the community is tight.

Indiana, Purdue, ASU, Pitt, UGa (no longer a true safety)
All offered some merit money & Honors College admission. |
Furman in Greenville, SC. Realistically it was probably more of a match school but dd loved it
St. Olaf
St. Olaf and Kalamazoo (yes, likes the cold midwest!)
Minnesota and VCU
My kid loved U. Mary Washington, Muhlenberg, and Juniata.
Clemson
But seriously, Arizona State! The panacea for the selective admissions process
