| Is this an annual test or will our kids take it more than once this year? When do we get the results? |
| 2-3 times a year. On the portal or your kid can tell you. |
|
No,Pp is answering for MAP.
Mcap replaced parch. It is annual and only for certain grades/subjects. Usually in spring but due to pandemic they had to push to the fall. So I think we will have more testing in the spring which is when it normally is. |
| My kids missed it for sports. They were told no problem and they will take it in the spring. |
| MCAP results come from the state. I think the spring results usually were sent home the following fall. Not sure when results for these fall tests will happen. |
| It is an annual test, but this year they take it twice—the fall is a shortened version of last year’s test, and the spring is this year’s test. |
Why does it take so long to get results? Are there open-ended questions that need to be graded by a person? |
|
Ya, it's just the new name of PARCC.
It is once a year normally at the end of the year. It is required by the state of MD and given annually. The reason they're giving it now is that they couldn't do it during COVID. |
| Is it in some way different from PARCC? Why did they switch? |
| They are giving it twice this year but typically it 1x/yr. |
|
They switched because PARCC was crappy, but this one isn't much better.
In the fall, the kids are taking a shortened version of the tests they should have taken last spring. I imagine that those results will come relatively quickly because part of the reason they're testing now is to identify learing gaps due to COVID. Testing in Spring 22 will be the regular length and subject tests that they usually take. Those results will come in the fall. |
| Do the results get put on ParentVue eventually? Or are they mailed out. |
I don't think we know yet, because ParentVue wasn't in use here the last time they gave the MCAP. |
