| Hi. I have a broken 2009 Prius. Battery kept dying. Dealership says it needs a new battery and a new computer and the total is 4,000. I am thinking it is not worth it to fix it. But what do I do with it? How can I quickly sell it and know I am getting what it is worth? Currently it is sitting, dead, at the dealer, and I'd rather not pay for a tow. |

You can try selling it as salvage for parts, but you probably aren't going to get much. Most people want to buy a single part, not the entire car. You could try selling it to an auto auction in the area. https://www.capitalautoauction.com/sell-your-vehicle
You could donate it. We've donated two cars to https://melwood.org/car-donation-information/ and always had a good experience. If you need it gone ASAP, donation is the way to go. |

I doubt you will get much if you attempt to sell it yourself.
I would just call Ecology & see if they would take it. Or like the poster above suggested > it is also a good idea to donate it. |
| You may be able to make some ca$h on it by selling the catalytic converter. |

A old nonworking car with a $4,000 repair bills isn’t worth much, so I wouldn’t worry about getting fleeced.
You can find out what it would be worth if you repair it, and then see if it would be worth it to repair it and then sell it. They sell cheaper batteries theses days too. Have you looked into that? |
| Donate, and get the tax benefit. They'll pick up from anywhere. |
| Try peddle.com They gave me $4200 for my 2011 Mercedes with almost 300,000 miles and a bad engine. When you go to their website it walk you through the process and give you an estimate of how much they would give you for the car. They picked up the car and gave me a check no questions asked. |
| I used my Nissan as a for-parts trade-in at the dealer. Not worth the hassle of trying to sell a car in need of repair, which I just can’t imagine doing. |
