Orlando for long weekend with 2 y.o. - Disney or another park/attraction?

DD and I are tagging along to DH's work trip to Orlando. We would have 1-2 days to visit a park on the first weekend in May. A lot of previous posts were very down with Disney. Is May overly crowded? What other parks would people recommend?

I think you just have to approach it like it will be mobbed and hope to be pleasantly surprised. I was surprised at all the negative posts and really don't understand it. I'm not a huge Disney fan, but it is what it is and kids enjoy it. Having said that a 2 year old isn't going to need to do all the "hot" things. I would look for something that interests you and go there (maybe Epcot?) A 2 year old will just enjoy being there and taking everything in and doesn't need to go on all the rides as older kids would want. Don't underestimate the fun to be had at the hotel pool and do not skip nap. Just tour around based on when your child is in best form and head back to the hotel for down time.

PP here - Look at SeaWorld. I think this would be very appealing for a 2 year old and they do have rides there for small kids, as well as splash areas.

April after Easter / Early May is actually a great time to go to Disney. School is still in session - spring break is over. In general families are not taking vacations as it is pretty close to the end of the school year.

We went 2 years ago with my children for 4 days and really enjoyed it. At the time my oldest was 2 1/2. We would get to the park when it opened, have a handful of things we wanted to do - and played the rest of the day based on how things were going. We left the park around noon and went back to our hotel for naps / rest time and returned again in the evening for dinner and a few more items.

My children were not over-tired, melting down and we had a wonderful time so much so we are heading back in 2 weeks for a few days.
