we are new to this area. I have kids in 6th and 4th and I work from home. I need someone afterschool for sports practice drop offs/pickups, overseeing hw/instrument practice, and light housework (cutting veggies, loading dishwasher, etc.). Where is the best place/website for a person like this? It would be 15-20 hrs/week. |
We used Care.com. |
You need a part time nanny who drives. Use a nanny agency or Care.com. |
Yes. Care.com. Prepare to pay a lot for this. |
Driving, housework, meal prep and part time? Expect to pay $25-30 hr and here’s a tip, don’t refer to the as the help or a helper????? Wtf |
I echo the above: please do not refer to this service as a “helper”!! You’re looking for a nanny.
Care.com or an agency. Be prepared to pay a lot as these are the jobs most in demand especially for a nanny who drives (and might need her own car). |
I found this on a neighborhood list serve. I pay $13 but no driving. |
If you live near a college you could look there. But care.com |
The whole point of her job is for driving. |
Where are you coming from? Childcare here tends to be more expensive that most parts of the country.
I think you should expect to offer $25/hr minimum...plus gas/mileage reimbursement (unless she is using your car.) A few drawbacks about hiring a college student: Their schedule could change next semester, so even if you find someone good now, she might not be available come January. Their breaks typically don't align with local public schools--her spring break will probably be different than your kids' spring break, she will probably get out earlier for summer (and want to go "home" wherever that is?) |
My friend was looking for something similar in the outer burbs, was offering $25/hour and couldn’t find someone. |
Everybody wants this now. I counted five posts just like yours on our neighborhood listserve. |
Suggest you drop the light housework and just advertise for the homework supervision and driving if you want to be competitive. |
The unicorn farm?
Op you need to pay very well, drop the housekeeping and call her a nanny, not a helper. |
Get an Au Pair. This is a perfect gig for an au pair. |
