| I know a couple who asks the grandparents to babysit overnight on the weekends so they can go out and get drunk. They feel like it’s a great way to unwind for the weekend. The grandparents told me this like they think it’s funny. |
| And what is it to you? Would it be weird if they called it “date night”? Good for them. |
| No. Weird & bad would be to do it with the kids at home. |
| Isn’t this normal? I mean the intention isn’t to get drunk but if you’re drinking you should have an overnight babysitter. |
Agree. |
They do what?! Clutch those pearls! |
| 🙄 It’s really no one’s business what the parents are doing on the weekends the grandparents are babysitting. Are you just jealous that you don’t have family that can give you a weekend off? |
+2 Good for them, sounds like they have family support and some balance. |
| Lucky! Can they share their parents? |
| I guess I would judge a little if they said they got grandparents to babysit so they could snort lines but only a little. |
| My parents are immigrants and I would never say that to my parents even if that’s what I was doing. We simply don’t have that buddy, wink-wink kind of relationship. Doesn’t seem appropriate in our culture. |
| Not weird, just sad. |
| Then everyone I know is weird. |
Mine are also but complete opposite. It’s not wink wink. Alcohol is not taboo at all and no one would think anything of the grandparents watching the kids so the parents can relax and drink. |
| So the grandparents watch the kids overnight so the parents can “go out”? Like on a date? Where they drink alcohol? And stay out late? Quelle horreur. |
