APS: what if an elementary teacher tests positive?

I can’t find any info on this. What happens to the class? Are they all close contacts?

This happened at our school and it sounds like that is what happened. The whole class was deemed close contacts and they went virtual.

This happened at our elementary school and no one was deemed a close contact. A close contact is defined as a person that you are within 6 feet of for 15 minutes without a mask. Thus, no child was notified.

The guidance says regardless of mask usage when an adult is the case.

The risk of this is low, since all APS teachers have to be vaccinated. The chances are much higher of it being a fellow student...much higher.

There are plenty of “employee” cases being listed at the elementary schools. I wish they would specify whether it’s a classroom teacher or not. Our school got notice of positive student cases in multiple grades last week, but no similar notice went out when an employee tested positive. Are the notification guidelines different?

Happened at our school and the entire class was quarrentined..The kids were young and were all close to the teacher

At our school the principal couldn't tell us it was the teacher for privacy reasons. We just were able to figure it out when the entire class needed to quarantine and only staff had tested positive recently.
