Are there any families with kids in Mater Amoris? How do you like it? Tell me the good, the bad, etc. thanks.

Our dd went for 8 years. Did great. Every kid in the class ended up at a tpo 20 college. Mine + another ended up at #1 ranked university.

Thanks! Where did your child go after 8th grade? Another private or MCPS?

Our kids go there. They love it. And as a former teacher, it's really how kids learn best.

It's sad that the measure of quality for a K-8 is the ranking of the college attended 4 years later, not the experience the kids actually have in the classroom.

Private in MD. The head of the school is wonderful. My dd stays in touch with the teachers. A gem of a school for many different types of kids.

Thanks. Do you feel that they are picking up any Spanish?

People want to know about quality/outcomes. In addition to being a good school-- the teachers/staff will treat your kids as well as their own.

If you are okay with ongoing bullying that remains unaddressed, gaslighting by admin, kids hitting teachers (and the kids clearly have needs that the school is not addressing), then go for it!

What are you talking about? Mater Amoris is a sweet, nurturing school.

Um, are you aware of the bullying that goes on there? Teachers having to pick up kids with their arms and then the kid hitting the teacher? Horrible language used while teachers look the other way? I know at least at the end of one academic year, 6 parents pulled their kids out. That says a lot.

I am sure you are replying because you may work at the school or may have been in a class where this was not going on.
