Maryland CSA farms?

Hello,

We will be moving to MD from Madison, WI where we have enjoyed an amazing farmers market and CSA farm. We're hoping to find an organic or organic practicing CSA farm that has pick sites near University Park, MD. Does anyone belong to a CSA farm that they love? The one that we were a part of here had farm events that members could go to as well, like a pea pick, tomato pick, corn boil, pesto making festival and a pumpkin pick in the fall. It would be wonderful to find something similar!! Thanks so much!!!

Googl CSA's in Maryland or check out the Washington Post. They usually have a listing.

Also go to localharvest.org YOu'll be able to search by zip code and there are hundreds of CSA's to choose from. It would really depend where in MD you're headed.

Thanks for the responses! I checked localharvest.org and there are TON of farms. Are there any that you LOVE?

As I mentioned in my post, this would be an impossible question to answer without knowing your location.

Also, any parameters such as whether you must have fruit, or would like eggs, etc. would help people make recommendations.

We use to belong to Jug Bay, they deliver to Capitol Hill during the season. You might want to check them out. In addtition to food they also have a fresh flower share. Good luck.

As far as I can tell, the CSA's around here deliver boxes to pick-up sites once a week. Some/many allow you to visit and possibly help at the farm.

Also, there are a number of farms/orchards that have pick-your-own apples, strawberries, etc, and have several festivals throughout the year, but are not CSA's.

I think you can get what you want, but you may need to cobble it all together from several sources.
